Gursharn Singh

Gursharn graduated from the Singapore Management University Juris Doctor programme in 2017 and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2018. Gursharn also graduated with an Honours degree in Economics and Political Science from the National University of Singapore in 2012.


A former diplomat with a keen interest in the law and advocacy, Gursharn represented his university in various international moot competitions.  His natural interests guided him to focus his practice primarily in litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution and he has gained invaluable experience from reputable firms.  Apart from disputes, Gursharn also has significant corporate advisory experience having advised clients on their full range of legal rights including but not limited to the review and drafting of the full gamut of agreements.  Gursharn’s diverse background allows him to connect with and communicate effectively with clients and he works hard to achieve the best possible outcome in the most cost-effective manner.


Some of Gursharn’s notable cases include:


  • The Social Outcast Pte Ltd v OSEAS Pte Ltd [2023] SGDC 34: Part of the team which acted for the defendant who had been sued for defamation. The court dismissed the plaintiff’s claim and allowed the defendant’s counterclaim in part.


  • Toh Eng Tiah v Jiang Angelina [2020] SGHC 65: Part of the team which acted for the plaintiff for the recovery of $2 million dollars which had been extended to the defendant. The main issue centred on whether this sum was a loan or a gift.


  • SingNet Pte Ltd v Composers and Authors Society of Singapore Ltd [2020] SGCRT 1: Part of the team which acted for the respondent pursuant to an application under section 169(1) of the Copyright Act which pertained to the referral of a question of law to the High Court.


  • Soh Keng Cheang Philip v National University Hospital (S) Pte Ltd [2021] SGHC 243: Part of the team which acted for the plaintiff in a medical negligence suit against the defendant hospital.


Gursharn has also represented clients in various contentious interlocutory applications such as striking out and summary judgment applications and Protection from Harassment Act 2014 applications. He also has experience in tenancy disputes having acted for a major F&B corporation in a dispute with its landlord.


Outside of work, Gursharn enjoys spending time with his family.  He is also an active sportsman, with a particular love for hockey and football.
